We were saddened to learn of the passing of Sheila Diamond in November 2022. She was a Patron and a great friend to our charity over the course of many decades.
Sheila was known for her altruism, hard work and compassionate spirit, and she has left an enduring mark on countless lives that have benefitted from her kindness. Always motivated by the desire to make a difference, Sheila worked passionately to raise funds and awareness, leaving an unforgettable impact on those around her.
The Alan and Sheila Diamond Charitable Trust was established by Sheila and her husband in 1976 and together they have supported causes close to their hearts, in addition to Youth Aliyah Child Rescue.
Brenda Josephs, who worked alongside Sheila on Youth Aliyah’s Care for Children Committee, fondly remembers her as an unwavering source of enthusiasm throughout the years. She says that Sheila would tirelessly sell tickets, actively participate in charity “shops” and was often coming up with innovative ideas to raise money for at-risk children.
According to Brenda, “Sheila was a really nice, kind person who worked hard raising and giving money to the cause. I miss her as a neighbour and friend”.
Our CEO, Daliah, fondly remembers speaking to Sheila. “She asked important questions, not only to confirm that the money we received was well spent but, more importantly, to ensure that our children were well taken care of. The depth of her caring and kindness was unmistakable each time we spoke.”
Sheila has left behind a remarkable legacy that has touched the hearts and changed the lives of thousands of children. We extend our sincerest condolences to her husband, Dr Alan Diamond OBE.
May her memory be a blessing.
