Guests step up after cancelled Gala Dinner
Our Gala Dinner was scheduled for Monday 23rd March, the very first day of lockdown. Even though we couldn’t get together in person, our guests still managed to raise an incredible £250,000 through their response to our appeal. Funds raised will allow three additional schools to join the Village Way, providing hundreds more at risk children with access to support and education that will change their lives.
This money also funds ground-breaking work in educating Israeli security forces (The IDF, Ofek Juvenile Prison and the Border Police) through a programme that guides security professionals in examining and improving how they interact with minority and disadvantaged groups. After three years in operation, demand for this programme is increasing and we are proud to support such positive steps in improving Israeli society.
Thank you to everyone who generously supported our dinner appeal. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve once we are all able to be in the same room again!

GiveItApp for Youth Aliyah Child Rescue
Once the ‘new normal’ becomes just normal and we are able to start going round to friends and family for dinner again, why not replace the usual gift of flowers, chocolate or wine with a donation to Youth Aliyah Child Rescue via the website www.giveitapp.org? Your host will be notified that you have made a donation in lieu of a physical gift and the money spent will become so much more meaningful.
Young fundraiser drums up support from his bedroom
On Sunday 21st June, Father’s Day, 15 year old Jacob Selwyn began raising money for our charity by broadcasting a live two hour stream of him playing the drums from his bedroom. Taking requests via messages on YouTube and text, Grade 5 drummer Jacob played an online concert encouraging people who were watching from all over the country to make donations.
The final amount raised, including Gift Aid was £666.25, which Jacob hopes may go towards providing musical equipment for Youth Aliyah Child Rescue’s five youth villages. Jacob said: “I had heard about the amazing work that Youth Aliyah Child Rescue does with kids of my age in Israel and wanted to come up with a way of helping to support the vital services they provide for young people who have not been as fortunate in their lives as I have. I needed to find a way that I could fundraise whilst social distancing – so drumming, something I love to do, seemed the perfect way to do it. It was Father’s Day that day, so it was also nice to spend time with my dad setting up the live music stream on YouTube, the JustGiving page and posting on social media. I never thought I would raise as much as I did, so I feel very proud and had a lot of fun doing it.” We are very grateful to the talented Jacob for fundraising in such a creative and original way and truly appreciate everything that our supporters do for us, both young and older.
